10 Minute Farmhouse Style Book Decor
Sometimes we don’t have all day to spend working on home decor projects. It would be great if we could carve out even 10 minutes am I right? Well, I guess I can call myself lucky because this is my job, so I probably spend way more than the average person on home decor projects. That is why I love these simple 10 minute farmhouse style book decor!
I love using books in my decor. I have made book garlands, valentines book art, thrift store books, book page napkin rings, and even christmas ornaments with book pages.
If you have 10 minutes, you have time to make this farmhouse style book decor.
I promise.
I know we all have those books lying around that we have never read, and quite honestly don’t even know why we have them. I had a pile of books that had been given to me, otherwise they were going in the trash.
I knew I could do something with them, but they just sat in my office collecting dust. Usually when I have a book thats just sitting around, I use it in my home decor, but these were paperback books, and the colors and design of the covers just didn’t go with my decor.
Thats when I had the idea that turned these regular books in to farmhouse style books in less than 10 minutes.
Okay brace yourself.
Take the book, and tear off the cover.
Yes you heard me right. Tear off the cover, and continue over the spine of the book. The idea is to have a rough look to them, so it definitely does not need to be perfect.
Once I tore the covers off, I took some dark wax that I had on my paint shelf, and I rubbed a little bit around the spine of the book with a paper towel. You don’t need much, and really you could go without it.
You could also use a dry paint brush with just a tiny bit of brown paint. It will give it a touch of antique to it.
I tied mine together with some twine and added them to my farmhouse spring mantel.
Aren’t they sweet?
I know book projects can sometimes be controversial, since some don’t think it is okay to tear the books apart. But here is my thought on the subject.
They were going in the trash. Going. In. The. Trash. I saved them from the landfill, and gave them a glorious, new purpose in my home.
Win / Win
