2 Ingredient Easy Sourdough Flatbread
If you are looking for an easy and delicious way to use up your sourdough starter or sourdough discard this is the perfect recipe for you! Sourdough flatbread is super easy to make and it has so many benefits. Not only is it easy to make, but for someone like me, who can have sourdough breads but not regular breads, this is a great shortcut to get a yummy bread-ish treat that is perfect with eggs at breakfast or to dip in hummus and more.
Now I guess if you count the sour dough discard or start as one ingredient this technically has 3 ingredients IF you add salt to your flatbread, which I highly recommend.
Just a few ingredients
This sourdough flatbread recipe could not be easier!
Lets talk about how I make these sourdough flatbreads. First, you want to use your discard 12-24 hours after the start has been fed. This way you are using up the discard and you are using it before is sours too much. If you like it more sour then you will be fine waiting or leaving it in the fridge for a few days.
I like to make me a fresh sourdough flatbread to eat at breakfast with my eggs. This way I am using up my discard without having to bake or make anything too big.
In a small bowl, add your sourdough discard, baking powder and salt. Stir with a spoon. Heat a frying pan or skillet on medium high heat. Add about 1/4 cup of this mixture to your pan. You can use any of your favorite skillets, mine happens to be a cast iron skillet. You want a hot skillet for this flatbread.
Pour the batter into the pan and use your spoon to spread it out to make about a 5-6 inch round. You want the batter to be a thin layer. Let the batter begin to bubble, while it is cooking you can sprinkle a bit more salt to the top of the flatbread.
This is also when I like to add some toppings. I like to add fresh herbs and parmesan cheese. You can also add everything bagel seasoning. Add whatever you love!
Toppings you can add to this flatbread
- Fresh Herbs such as rosemary, basil, chives, sage and thyme
- Parmesan cheese orr any fresh grated cheese

- Olive oil and garlic
