A Very Witchy Halloween Mantel
You might thing I titled this post because of the mood I have been in the past month! I blame it on the changing weather! Its funny, as soon as the night started to freeze, my allergies have been better, and thus, my whole life is better! In fact, so much better I was able to create a fun and very witchy Halloween mantel this year for you to have fun with!
I am so thrilled to be taking part in my friend, Kristen Whitby of Ella Claire Inspired, for her yearly Halloween Home Tour! There are so many amazing bloggers in this home tour, you will have to try not to spend all day swooning over it all.
My Witchy Halloween Mantel…
Today I am sharing my very witchy Halloween mantel! First, let’s back up a minute. I spent a lot of time really brainstorming this mantel this year, and mainly because….I updated my mantel with some paint! Its now a slightly warmer and darker grey/green/beige. Benjamin Moore Gettysburg Grey is the color, and I am using it everywhere these days. It is the perfect compliment to the rest of my homes decor and I am thrilled with the after!
So, I knew since I was adding more warmth and depth, that I wanted to keep everything very simple in the mantel. Just like my fall inspired entryway, I wanted to focus on the colors and the textures instead of the elements I add to it like pumpkins and typical fall and Halloween decor.
As I began finding my way for this Halloween mantel, I really loved the idea of using a witches broom as the focal point over the mantel. After all, there are two very powerful witches living here. My husband will tell you so.
This mantel is very witchy indeed. When a witch has been out all night casting spells, turning into cats and whatnot, its important to have a place to hang your riding broom as well as a place to hang your black cape and hat!
Now these witches that live here are no typical witches. We have a bit of style, and a couple years ago we switched from our typical black witches hat to a stylish straw hat. It helps us blend in more. Believe me, we need all the help we can get!
So a place to hang our broom and a place to hang my witchy attire. It’s very important, you know. Its also important to pull those lame pumpkins out of the garden, and yes our were lame…everything in our garden was lame this year!
Even with all our witchery, we still had a failure of a garden. These are the only pumpkins left after the deer were finished with them…I should have turned them in to cats with one of my spells:)
Now, what do you think of my DIY witches broom? Sometimes a witch has gotta make her a new broom when her old ones been used too much.
A couple black candle holders, and a place to hang my black witchy driving gloves and we are all set!
You can see my daughters tiny broom nestled down below….we ride as a family here.
So thats my very witchy Halloween mantel! This season seems to be very busy for the witches living here in our house.
