Personalized Christmas Gifts Using My Cricut Maker
There is nothing better than receiving a hand made gift for Christmas. I love the heart and the time that is put into these kinds of gifts. This is why I also love giving them to other people! I love showing my love for them through the time I spend creating something just for them. Today I want to share how I make personalized Christmas gifts using my Cricut Maker. I am making a monogram wood sign for my in-laws! Shhhh don’t tell them!
This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Cricut. The opinions and text are all mine.
I think it’s pretty obvious that I love using my Cricut Maker. This holiday season it is going to be put to very good use! From personalized Christmas gifts to custom gift tags and more, I am so excited about all the different things I will be making!
I have always been one of those people that showed their love to others by doing things or making things for them. I often spend a full day making the perfect dinner and birthday cake for my kids. That is my present to them from me. I feel the same about Christmas. It is a time to use your talents and time to give to those around you.
Every year, we try really hard to come up with a great gift for my in-laws. Its really hard! Honestly, what do you get someone who can get anything they truly want? That is where a heartfelt personalized gift comes in. A few years ago, I made my mother-in-law a cute wooden sled for her front porch. It makes me happy to see it out every year! And she truly loved it.
This year, I wanted to create something that highlights their posterity. Something that would be personal to them, and only them. My in laws have been together since 1965 and I think thats pretty amazing! They were “established” or married in 1965, and they now have a great posterity full of kids, grandchildren and even great-grandchildren! So I decided to create a monogram wood sign, with their name and the date of their union. I hope this makes them feel proud of their years of accomplishments.
Want to make one for a close family member or friend for the holidays?
Here is a list of supplies you will need to make your own personalized monogram wood sign:
- 1/2 inch plywood cut 10 by 20 inches (if you want to make it the same size as the design on Design Space. You can make it larger if you so desire)
- paint or stain ( I stained my wood and then painted the stencil with white paint)
- Cricut Maker
- Transfer tape
- Removable Vinyl
- Weeding Tool
- 12 by 24 Machine mat
I thought about doing a step by step tutorial with photos, but decided to video the process this time. I find it fun to change things up!
You can watch this full video to see exactly how I made this monogram wood sign using my Cricut Maker:
This project was really quite straightforward. I created a stencil using my Cricut Maker and then created the same design on my wood sign. The Cricut Maker is an amazing machine. It can be used to cut so many different materials including vinyl, balsa wood, fabrics, leathers and more! Today I am focusing on creating a stencil of sorts for my sign. I created this with the idea that if you wanted to customized this monogram sign with your own last name letter and your “est” date, you easily can! Click here to access this project on Cricut Design Space.
In order to customize this design for yourself, you need to click the “customize” button, not the “make it” button.
You can then change the letter and numbers to your desired settings. The larger monogram letter, the last name, and the date can all easily be changed to fit what you want! You can adjust the sizes as well.
You will have to “detach” the design before you can change the fonts. Once you have changed it to your desired settings, you will want to select all the elements and “attach” them once again. This will ensure that they are cut as one large stencil. You dont necessarily need to do this, but it makes it so much easier to create!
What do you think? Will they love it?
I hope so!
