Front Porch Decor Using Artwork
Hi there friends! I am back at it today sharing some great spring/summer porch decorating ideas! I am joining some of my favorite bloggers and we are all sharing different porch inspiration, whether its how to decorate a porch, or some really cute DIY wreaths, you are in for a treat! I am sharing my front porch decor using artwork!
Now, yes its true I love to use artwork all over my home. I love to paint. I love to draw and sketch and I love to use that artwork in my home. We often think that artwork such as landscape paintings and such are strictly for the inside of the home. But, what about a canvas print, or a wood print that can hang out on a protected porch, with a roof(yes I would think this is important). But there are things you can do to protect the artwork from the elements.
I am able to get my artwork printed through a company I love and I assume the finish on it is water resistant, but I am not sure, so I think you could add a thin layer of poly-acrylic to your artwork that will be outside to protect it from the elements just as you would a piece of furniture.
Now, I do think that this kind of front porch decor is not something you keep out all year, but feature it for a bit and rotate it out. Luckily I rotate my porch decor as often as my interior decor….which is quite often haha.
Since its almost summer time, I wanted to add a pop of color to my front porch. The easiest way for me to do that is by adding a colorful piece of artwork. I painted this last year, and had a print made on canvas. It hangs easily and it safe under my porch.
Porch decor for my during the spring and summer months consists of functional items often, and I often have dirty boots, flowers that are ready to be planted or even a tree that needs a home. That is why my decor is ever changing, because our lives are hectic and we are always adding or changing things here. Just tonight my husband exclaimed he wanted to build a fence for his raspberry and strawberry patch, and within a couple hours, he actually had it almost done! We don’t seem to have the patience to sit around!
So, we have a tree ready to be planted on the porch doubling as decor. We also have a large woven bag full of baby goat supplies that my daughter rounded up. We have a momma goat having babies any day now, and she wants to be prepared!
And my trusty rubber boots and sun hat. Both essential out in my garden, or when I am tending to the goats and chickens. Pretty much they are my attire every day during the summer. I am not sad about it either.
My goal these days is to keep it simple, and with all the craziness in the world right now, I am not able to go out and shop and plan like I usually do, so part of this project was to show you how to create front porch decor easily from items in your home already.
A simple woven door mat and my black bench round out my front porch decor.
