Living Room Mood Board With Carpet One Top 2020 Flooring Trends
Special thanks to Carpet One for sponsoring this post. These photos, texts and opinions are my own. Thank you for supporting Twelve On Main.
Hey my friends! Its been a great week so far and I am excited to share this post with you today! As we speak, I am working on a bit of a small project for the home….well, small for us I guess you could say. I am working towards a bit of a living room refresh. We are in desperate need of a new couch. Our beloved leather couch is giving up the ghost and like everything, that one couch is having a ripple effect on the entire space. Today, with the help of Carpet One I am sharing our first glimpse at what this new space will look like if and when we can replace the flooring and upgrade some of the furniture.
My living room mood board:
Creating mood boards are one of my most favorite things to do. Gathering ideas, textiles, textures, colors, and being inspired by simple everyday items while bringing it all together in a cohesive group is truly something I love to do.
Carpet One was generous enough to send me some amazing samples from their “Twenty for 2020” campaign. Let’s just say I had a difficult time narrowing down my choices for this living room mood board. In my opinion, I think they were pretty spot on with the flooring choices they have chosen as the new trends for this year. I found them to be an incredible source of inspiration and aided me in creating a plan for my living room. Check out the entire collection here.
The look I am working on in my living room is to lighten the floors, keep the wood windows as a focal point and keep them clean without drapes or curtains. I also want to add a new sofa as well as some new lounge chairs throw pillows, and texture, texture, texture.
When I am working on a mood board, I work first on the fundamentals. The flooring is by far the first thing I work on, it is a base for the entire room, plus its generally the most labor intensive and expensive, so I like to make sure that we have the right products chosen. I gravitated towards the lighter flooring options Rustic River Monterey Heights in Stampede, this is a white oak, and it is gorgeous. I also fell in love with the wood floor Invincible H20 West Barclay in the color Delightful(see more options here)
I think rustic flooring will always be a classic look, and for me, finding one with less pattern and repeats is important. I do not want the business of the floor to be the focal point, I want the beauty and tone of the wood to be the jumping off point for the rest of the room.
I started with the two wood floors, and added some elements that I wanted in the room, including this simple green and white landscape painting. I took my inspiration from that and pulled fabrics for pillows and sofa coverings.
Camel colored leather, light peach velvet, ticking stripe, and rust colored fabric are the highlights.
I think found objects are incredibly important in conveying the feel and look you want in a mood board. I love adding objects that convey a color or texture I want in a room. I used driftwood, deer antler, eucalyptus, books, and more to do this.
The carpet Resista 3.0 Five Points in Duchess and the tile Bel Terra Fabric Art Modern Textile Medium Grey are great compliments to the elements in the room.
I Love adding some darker elements into a space, I love to add that contrast. I used some of the Pantone colors,Warm Grey, Moon Rock, and Deep Forest as some colors to add warmth. The Deep Forest is the color I would add to my armoire.
The collision of neutral colors and textures with some pops of interest are indicative of my style.
Some additional elements I have included are some of the furniture I plan to use in the space.
I love the lines of the two chairs, and the white sofa it a greta backdrop for my new throw pillows. It will also look amazing with the new flooring.
