Easy & Inexpensive Wood Raised Planter Boxes

Creating a raised bed garden is a great way to get a bountiful garden. We built these out of cedar picket fence posts and only spent $300 total!

The first step is to cut the dog ear off your fence pickets

Take 2 by 4 cuts and slide one under each end. Drill pilot holes in each piece of cedar through to the 2 by 4 and then screw each one in.

Lay out three picket fences on the ground

You now have the two long sides done. With another person, have them come and hold the sides up, measure out how wide they need to be to fit the end pieces and repeat the drilling.

Repeat these steps to the other side of the planter box.

We then added cross pieces to connect one side to another

Once you have your garden planters finished you can arrange them where you want them and begin filling them with soil and organic matter.

As simple as that, your empty planter boxes are done

Overall I would say this is a pretty easy DIY. Once your garden beds are established you will be able to grow amazing veggies with very little effort.
