Make Decorative Moss Balls For Spring
I am kind of loving moss this spring. I think it provides such a springy feel, but can be kept in your decor all year. It is also a nice departure from the evergreen we use in the winter. Today I am going to show you how to make decorative moss balls for spring. If you have checked my blog out before, you might have seen my moss eggs I posted a few weeks ago. Well, these are similar, but I have used a few different materials to create these.
For these decorative moss balls I used these supplies:
Now, you can find this Reindeer Moss Basil also at Joann’s Fabric Store for 2.99 and with one of their coupons you can definitely get a steal!
Now, I will say this…if you have old round Christmas ornaments lying around they work well for this project too! That would make these even more attractive and less expensive. As they are with the items I used, they are still dirt cheap, compared to the store bought ones.
I laid my newspaper down, turned on a little Bachelor I have been meaning to catch up on and away I went. Sometimes we claim we never have time to work on projects. Well, maybe we just aren’t using that time that we are spending watching a movie or that new show on TV we cannot get enough of. I am definitely not saying that watching TV is bad. Couldn’t be further from the truth! I am guilty of being a pretty big TV fan. Why not combine the two? That is what I do when I am needing a little downtime. Flip on some Jimmy Fallon and pull out the paint brushes. It’s just how I do.
So, these decorative moss balls are really so simple.
I like to start by painting a section of the styrofoam balls and then work the moss onto the glue. Work in small sections. It really is much easier.
Apply a little glue, apply some moss. And repeat.
The moss comes in clumps so it makes applying so much easier if you work out the clumps a little. Spread it out and mold it to your ball before you apply the glue. It will make it more pliable.
I was able to make 6 of these little beauties in about an hour. Just in time for The Bachelor to be over. Talk about timing. I am using these lovelies in my spring centerpiece on my kitchen island, which I will be featuring on a later date. But here they are on their sweet little cake stand. I do think they are oh so lovely.
Go ahead and give them a try! Add a little touch of green and make these decorative moss balls for spring.
Have a great day and remember….
