Milk Paint DIY and Giveaway
Okay, so this is a post you do not want to miss out on! I have been toying around with some FolkArt Milk Paint, and I am excited to show you what I have been up to.
So, FolkArt recently introduced a line of Milk Paints. This paint is a little different from the other ones on the market. Many have to be mixed together with water right before you use them. Don’t get of me wrong, those are great paints. This paint is a bit different, and a more convenient paint for those just starting out. This paint is pre-mixed. And boy do they have a lot of colors!
I set out to use some of these paints and see what it was all about. I took these old large utensils that I found at a junk store and gave them an update.
I used the primer that came with the paints to prep the surface. This is used so that you don’t have to do much prep.
After 1 coat primer and 2 coats of white milk paint, I added a stenciled “eat” to the spoon and hung them back up. I love the new update.

I’ve been on the hunt for large utensils like that but haven’t found any I like.Love the transformation you gave yours!
I like the job you did! Are these paints similar to chalk paints? What kind of paint would you suggest for a kitchen table and chairs? I had painted them cream but now I want to paint them white. Would love to try milk paints. Maybe I’ll be lucky!
I think it depends on what finish you are looking for. Milk paint has a thinner finish so you may need more layers, but it has a more smooth finish, where chalkpaint is much thicker and may require a little bit more sanding to get a smooth finish. Either way you will need to seal it. Chalkpaint will need to be waxed. It also depends on what finish you are starting out with. Is it raw wood or a sealed table? You may do some prep for milkpaint if it is already sealed, however chalkpaint you will not.Good luck!
