A New Ikea Ektorp Sofa in the Bedroom? Yes!
We have made a few changes in the house over the past couple weeks! It was time that we took a big plunge and bought some new furniture for the bedroom and the family room, Today I just wanted to share with you a new addition to our bedroom. We bought ourselves the IKEA Ektorp sofa! I feel like I may be a bit late to the IKEA sofa game, but I want to share my experience.
With all the crazy changes with the world these days, we are spending a lot more time at home. With that happening, we have been wanting to create a retreat, or an oasis for us to enjoy away from the madness. Our master bedroom has always been my retreat, ever since we remodeled it.
We have this one space, however, that always bothered me. We have a cozy fireplace in the bedroom, and I have been wanting to create a cozy space near the fireplace. For a couple years we have had some club chairs in this space, but it definitely was not a place to cozy and and snuggle by the fire.
With fall and winter headed our way, I wanted to do this sooner than later.
While trying to decide what to get for this space, I kept coming back to the IKEA Ektorp sofa with the chaise option. I loved the idea of being able to lay down to take a nap, or to snuggle to watch a move and have that extra space with the chaise.
I know what you are thinking, who has enough room in a bedroom for a large couch? Well, yes we do. We have a pretty good sized bedroom, and we want it to be our retreat.
My first impression of the IKEA Ektorp sofa is that it was pretty easy to put together, my son and I did it in bout 20 minutes. If you dont know this, their couch comes unassembled. This is why the price tag is so good. That is the main reason we went this direction. We wanted something inexpensive and I love that this couch comes with slipcovers!
Because it comes with slipcovers, I chose the white slipcover for our couch in the bedroom. You may think we are crazy, but I absolutely love them! Now, we are okay with these because they are in the bedroom. This space does not get the traffic that the family room does. There are no shoes allowed in the bedroom, so that chance of them getting dirty is pretty slim.
I feel like this is also good to teach not only my kids, but my husband that no, the couch is not a dining table, or a foot rest. Its important to teach the kids that they can have manners. I am not saying I am going to be a Nazi and be super strict, but its important to me for them to try to eat in the kitchen, take their shoes off when coming in the house and being thoughtful about how and what they do around the house.
We have had this IKEA Ektorp for a couple weeks now and I am so in love with it! It is my daughters favorite place to relax and its perfect for night time snuggles. It is pretty comfortable, but also has plenty of firmness.
I cannot wait until fall and winter when I can spend a little time here snuggling by the fire while I work. It feels positively dreamy to even think about!
So far, I have to say for the price, size, style, and comfort level this IKEA Ektorp is a great couch. I love that I can but different color slip covers that are really affordable and change out the look without investing in a new and expensive couch!
Honestly, I would give this couch a great review so far. I will make sure to give an updated review once we have lived with it for a while. I certainly am very happy with it!
THERE WAS NO COMPENSATION FOR SAYING THIS, I AM JUST SUPER EXCITED ABOUT THIS COUCH!
