I have experimented with many peanut butter frosting recipes and finally landed on a balance of sweet, salty and creamy amazingness. I love to use this peanut butter with my sourdough discard chocolate cake. It would also be great on my fudgy sourdough brownies! This would be incredible spread across a chocolate or vanilla sheet cake too!

Combining layers of chocolate cake along with this peanut butter frosting is a sweet, decadent dessert. This looks amazing on a layer cake too!

This recipe is super easy to make and people will be blown away at your ability to make such a flavorful frosting. There’s no reason for store bought frosting when it is so easy to make homemade! The total time it takes to make this frosting is less than 10 minutes.

The ingredients for this recipe are basic. You surely have just about everything in your kitchen. You can mix this all up in one bowl. Pipe it onto a cupcake or spread it on top of a cake. The texture is soft and pillowy and tastes amazing. I like to use the whisk attachment and not the paddle attachment when making this frosting.

Amazing Peanut Butter Frosting

This is the perfect peanut butter frosting. It is sweet and creamy, with that perfect peanut butter flavor. Use it on cupcakes, cakes, and so much more!

Ingredients

2 sticks butter at room temperature can use salted or unsalted. I use salted because it is what I often have.
1 cup creamy peanut butter
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/8 tsp salt (if using unsalted butter)
2 1/2 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

In a large bowl, or in the bowl of a stand mixer and the beater attachment, add your butter and peanut butter and cream it until it is well incorporated.
Add the vanilla (and salt if needed) and continue to mix.
Slowly add the powdered sugar, mixing on low speed.
Once it has all been added, whisk on high for 1-2 minutes to make it more light and fluffy. If you find it a little thick you can add one teaspoon to 1 tablespoon of heavy cream too reach your desired consistency.
Store in an airtight container or serve on your favorite cakes and cupcakes. You can store in the refrigerator for up to a week or in the freezer for 3 months.
If you do this, you need to let it thaw and come to room temperature before mixing it up again to make it nice and fluffy.
