Stress Free Holiday Shopping

Its no secret that I live in the middle of nowhere. We live in a very rural area. We have one small grocery stor, a couple gas stations, restaurants, and a post office. Its easy to say that we don’t live with the average conveniences of someone living in the city. But, I wouldn’t trade living here for anything. I do, however, has a couple tricks up my sleeve that make living here much easier than one might think, and how to get stress free holiday shopping like a pro.
Living in a small town has taught me many things. The biggest one, is being prepared and having a plan. We live 1 1/2 hours away from the nearest large scale grocery store. When I do get to the city, the most important stop on the trip is to Walmart. For years, we would spend an extra hour or two fighting the crowds and my crying children to get our big grocery shopping done.
OUR SECRET FOR STRESS FREE HOLIDAY SHOPPING
Walmart was an important stop for us, because not only can we get our groceries, but so much more! It was basically our one stop shop. This was just apart of our life, drive to the city, run errands and finish with a big shopping trip to Walmart. Well, things have changed over the past year, and now, with Walmarts online grocery order and pickup, my life has literally changed….and so much for the good!
When life is hectic and the last thing I want to do is spend an hour at the grocery store, being able to stop and simply pick up my groceries is pretty much my dream. When I learned that our local Walmart was offering grocery pickup, I knew it would be such an incredible positive effect on our lives.
Right now, with the busy holiday season upon us, we strive to spend as much time with our kids, and now, instead of fighting the crowds, I can easily select a time for pickup, add all my groceries into my virtual cart and pick up my groceries, as soon as the same day! I always schedule mine for the next day so I have time to adjust my order if needed.
Honestly I feel a bit spoiled being able to drive up into my stall, check in on the app, and wait for the Walmart associates to come and deliver my groceries.
That time I would be spending stalking the aisles can be spent making memories with my kids.
Something we love to do during the holidays is to bake as a family. My daughter and I love to get creative and decorate cookies or whip up a cake. Our household centers all our activities around food…or at least it feels that way haha. Just a couple days ago, I was able to place my online order, choose the most convenient time for me, and then head over to pick it up. For us, this is huge because I am able to plan a bit better, and we can stop and have a nice dinner as a family before heading to curbside pickup too get our order fulfilled. The Walmart’s associates are always very helpful and do a great job of loading my car as well as putting my frozen items in the cold bags I bring along.
If there’s an event of a holiday, our most important chore is planning the menu. we just love our food. This year we kicked off the holiday season by baking a chocolate gingerbread cake and some gingerbread cookies to decorate it.

My daughter absolutely loves decorating gingerbread men. They make the cutest accessory for this super easy cake. We spend a bit of time this weekend baking and just spending time together. When it is cold outside, there is nothing better than a warm kitchen, my family, and some yummy things to eat.
I was able to easily grab all the ingredients I needed, as well as some staples to make some of our favorite holiday dinners and treats though Walmart’s grocery app. I reserved a time and day, chose the things I needed and checked out.
Something I love about doing my grocery orders online is that I am able to stick to my budget much easier. I can see my running total and review my cart at any time. I can adjust and take things off if needed, and I can also add things to the order even after I have checked out!
This stress free holiday shopping is perfect for our family. It saves me more time to spend with my kids. It gives me more peace with my wallet. There are so many advantages to their online orders, I am not sure I could ever go back.
It makes these times all the more appreciated.
These are times that she will remember. I will gladly trade this over the time running errands.
This holiday season I am hoping to focus more on that, and less on the stress.
