Tips and Tricks for Furniture Paint Makeovers

Want to paint an old table, dresser, nightstand, etc. to make it look brand new? Here I'll show you some tips for painting furniture with and old sideboard. With these tips, you'll be a pro at DIY!

– Zibra Paint Brushes – Furniture Paint – Furniture Wax – Sand Paper – Clean Towel

What you need

Prep all of the surfaces

The first thing you want to do is to prep the surface. You'll want to either sand the finish or prime it to roughen it up so it accepts the paint.

Paint a thin first coat

Let the first coat dry thoroughly.  If you don’t, it will create an uneven finish on the next coat. Once dry, apply another coat, using long even strokes.

Use sandpaper to give it a farmhouse look

This is optional of course, but I like to sand the edges, top, and sides to add the rustic farmhouse look to some of my painted furniture pieces.

Wax your painted furniture

Because of the paint I used, I didn't need to wax, but waxing gives your furniture a more polished look. You can find the paint I used on my site!

I love showing old furniture some love by giving it a nice paint makeover! I hope these tips help you on your future DIY adventures!
